My heart is aching. Yet at the same time, rejoicing. Defeat is so close, yet so far. Defeat of Satan that is. Though it is only under the authority of God that we are able to defeat such evil. My thought being... every time something good, something spiritually uplifting happens, the devil finds a way to snatch it from you. Not necessarily speaking for myself, although it does happen to me also, but for something I feel that's going on in the midst of a united family-- the church. The Body of Christ, His Bride. It is so easy to get caught up in the hectic pull of worldly emotions, speaking for myself here. The worlds mindset for you is to think that it's too late and too hard to detach yourself from the sin, big or small. Satan wants you to dwell on the past instead of on God. Slowly, he is wrapping you in to spiritual death. Don't fall into this trap. Lies, rumors, pain, cheating, hatred, jealousy, etc., it's all a door of choice. Your choice. Don't open it. Rather,
"
Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith,
love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of
a pure heart. Don't have anything to do with foolish and
stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.
And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be
kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who
oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will
grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,
and that they will come to their senses and
escape from the
trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will."
-2 Timothy 2:22-26
Flee. Don't just "walk away from the situation", flee from it. Run. Escape. Or it will trap you and tear you apart. I recently heard this in a sermon and this would be the right time to say that "waiting for time to pass and letting 'time heal the wound', is not the correct supposition." It's not up to time, it's up to God. God's timing. It's His. Let God heal your wound!
In addition to the cliche of time healing all wounds, "if you don't let it go (your dilemma, your sin), it won't let you go." (Also from the sermon.) Therefore, time can't heal anything. Only you, by letting go, by fleeing, and by the power of God Himself working through you, can change the way you live the rest of your life. Run to God and dwell in His presence. Don't open doors that are meant to stay shut. Don't let people or situations change who you are in Christ. Live to please your Father, not your friends, your family, your co-workers. But the One who "..by the grace of God,
tasted death for everyone." -Hebrews 2:9.
So what to do?
"Encourage one another
daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first."
-Hebrews 3:13-14
Seek the face of Jesus and the rest will fall into place. Let Him carry your burden, He's done it before. Don't underestimate who He is and the endless love He showers you with.
Be encouraged and most importantly count on God to walk you through!
